Winners and Losers of a weekday night out

Last night I went out with the local playgroup Mums.  We're a diverse bunch but all get on quite well.  We have been trying to organise a night out for what seems like forever.  Safe to say it was a great night and something that will be a more regular occurence.

Winner:  Made delicious cocktails for pre-dinner drinks:
Fruit Tingle, Minty Pear and Strawberry Dacquiri
Winner:  Made yummy canapes - summer rolls, lamb mintballs, union square nuts and cheese cocktail biscuts
Loser:  Had mini-meltdown minutes before guests arrived as strawberry dacquiri went everywhere after leaking out of the food processor - sticky and pink.
Loser:  One of our crowd had to go to the dinner venue one hour early and hold our table
Winner:  Luckily her hubby came with her and they shared a bottle of french champagne before we arrived.
Winner:  Dinner venue had a shuttle bus so no-one had to drive
Loser: I had to tell the bar wench how to make my drink (cocktail on their cocktail list) properly.  It must be nice to be nineteen and know everything.
Winner:  Yummy dinner - Chicken Tandoori Pizza with mint yoghurt on top, shame about the base though, only let down
Winner:  Great conversation
Winner:  Many drinks
Loser:  Attempting witty banter with clearly paraletic patron at the bar.
Loser:  On exit to our chauffer, um I mean shuttle bus, witnessed an 18 year old still on his drinking L's trying not to vomit outside whilst waiting for his Mum to pick him up (I assume)
Loser:  Getting home before midnight!
Winner:  Lovely hubby had cleaned up and washed up all the Cocktail and Canapes
Winner:  Friend and I shared last drink (Cosmopolitan) out on the deck had lovely conversation (she lives accross the road)
Winner: Sleeping on the couch because I knew I would stink up our sheets and there's nothing worse than being sober and have someone smashed get into the bed with you. (Bed time 12.30am)
Loser:  Hubby opening every cupboard and rustling every plastic something in the kitchen before going off to work at 6am.
Loser: Having to adjudicate WWIV between a 5 year old and 3.5 year old at 6.10am
Loser: Having the TV turned on and have Ni Hao Kai-Lan blaring at 6.10am
Loser:  Having your children feed your going-out sandals to the dog *sob*
Winner: Having fond memories of the night anyway

I think the vote will be to do this on a weekend next time.

Sounds like you had a great night out - such a good idea, I wonder if my mother's group would be up for something similar.
