My favourite baking book - 3 to give away!

If you are a regular reader or in my circle of friends you will have no doubt heard of Rachel Allen.  Rachel is like the Nigella Lawson of Ireland, her speciality is baking and family food.  It's little wonder I adore her stuff and her 'Bake' book is without a doubt my favourite baking book.

I have made many things from that book - and shared them with you here - some examples - Vege-mighty muffins is based on Rachel's english muffin.  Her honey loaf is the most soothing cake if you have a sore throat I think.  Then there's her swiss rollbagels, and of course, soda bread,

So it's my birthday on Sunday, and I thought I'd give you some presents!

I'm giving away 3 copies of Rachel Allen Bake! this week.  Click here for a sneaky peak!

Oh my word, if you look at my blog over the past few days I look like the biggest girly swot currying favour! In the last week I've made your Golden Syrup dumpings and last night Lemon Delicious. Well my current favourite would have to be the Caramelised Garlic Loaf I made last night - Can't wait for lunch to eat it with my soup (but like you said Liss - if the soup wasn't already made, it wouldn't have made it to the soup!)

I'd love to try the 'Baked Raspberry Ripple CHEAT mini cheesecakes', I'm a big fan of cheesecake, but they can be very complicated and time-consuming to make. Any shortcuts are greatly appreciated! :)

The turkish bread is divine! Hubbie adores it... kids eat it, even with the onion. Recipe has now gone back to the UK with hubbies godparents as they loved it so much. Has also gone to my dad who is taking it up north when he goes caravanning in a month with step mum.

its best hot with butter! YUM!

I never baked Cathy's version for some reason, but this morning I looked at 2 very ripe bananas and was about to google recipes when I read your link from Facebook, so bought some coconut cream when I was out. I only read the first lot of ingredients and forgot about the icing, so first thing on the mornings agenda is cream cheese - then we bake!!
I love cooking, just rarely find the inspiration (or inclination), but have been enjoying your site Liss. Well Done. :)

This is my favourite, and I recommend it constantly!

http://www.frillsinthehills.com/2010/01/bill-graingers-coconut-bread-loaf.html

I love it toasted and spread with lime curd (NIgella's recipe is lovely). If you have a squashy sandwich press thing, it gets nice and crusty without burning (and mine does those nifty grooves - good for holding all that butter or lime curd).

I facebooked it too.....

Ooh, I love the sound of the Cheese and Rosemary Muffins (http://www.frillsinthehills.com/2010/04/picnic-school-snack-or-light-lunch.html), they'd be a lovely breakfast, especially if you warmed them up and spread butter on them... mmmmm! I think they'd be great as a light lunch or tea too, maybe with a salad on the side.
