When the first Tinkerbell movie came out, it was on high rotation. So high in fact, hubby and I could almost recite it word for word. The rolling credits was literally music to my ears. I shouldn't complain though - it carried though some great themes about everyone having their own talent, and to embrace what you are good at.
Then Tinkerbell and the Lost treasure came out, and again - saw this many, many times. I used the example of when Tinkerbell blamed everybody else - mostly Terrance for her errors in a lesson - my girls lash out at each other when they are in the wrong - it was perfect timing.
This time we're looking at the Great Fairy Rescue - and thanks to Disney DVD to sending us an advanced copy! This time we're getting closer to Peter Pan when Tinkerbell meets her first person, a little girl who believes in fairies and fairy dust but her Father does not... it also teaches the valuable lessons that when you do something wrong, you can try really hard and fix it. Great themes again.
The great thing about this DVD too is that it had behind-the-scenes with the writer and director - which shows how the movie changed over time during the making, the themes they were working with and some deleted scenes also. Something for the Mums and Dads ;).
We have, as you would expect have seen this a good many times already and the house is full of Tinkerbell Fever again! So we made some Tinkerbell fairy wands - this would be a great school holiday activity - and just in time too - Tinkerbell and the great fairy rescue is available on Blu-Ray and DVD TOMORROW.

Now to the fairy wands!
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees c and follow the Kidspot cookie recipe from here - make the dough and add some food colouring (a bit of rose and blue to make lilac)
Roll out and brush with some edible disco dust - I love this stuff, it doesn't go everywhere ($7.10 from Inspired by Chocolate)
Cut out your shapes, place on a greased tray and put your sticks in - you can get paddle pop sticks from craft stores... a tip: Wet down the stick first, to stop them from browning in the oven.
Bake for about 10-12 minutes. Remove and cool on the tray for about 30 minutes.
Ice as desired, my girls did them with the easy to use shim pens - glitter icing pens - nice and long, easy to hold, lovely colours - we used pink, green and purple - from Inspired by Chocolate and only $2.50 each!!! I love them!
Wouldn't they make a great birthday party activity? Or party favour? Love them!
