Cinnamon pull apart


With all this busy-ness of late I've missed baking so much.  Bread in particular.  Yesterday morning I was awoken a little too early by my frills but instead of getting grumpy I thought I'd take advantage of the time and get busy with some bread!

It takes 30 minutes to prepare so easy to do before breakfast and then after school it had proved and put it in the oven and it was ready for morning tea!  Can't ask for more than a sunny day, some warm cinnamon pull apart, a cup of tea and watching the girls play in the backyard before starting the domestic day right?


Ingredients:
1 3/4 cup milk, heated to lukewarm
1 tb yeast
5 cups plain flour
1/2 cup caster sugar
100g melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
50g melted butter, extra


Method:
Add yeast to heated milk and leave to sit for about 5 minutes.

In a mixing bowl or mixer place the flour and sugar, add the milk/yeast mixture and mix in well.  Lastly, mix in the 100g melted butter, it should form a soft, pliable dough.

In another small bowl or cup, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together.

Grease a 20cm round or ring tin (you could use a few loaf tins too if you like!)

Roll pieces of dough into golf-ball sized balls.  Place in one layer on bottom of pan, sprinkle half the sugar/cinnamon mixture over the top.

Repeat with another layer on top.  Cover with cling film and place in a warm place for about an hour.

Preheat oven to 190 degrees c  Bake in oven for 25-35 minutes, until golden on top.

Beware of the pull apart trolls...

That looks soooooooooooo good....

Must try that tomorrow! I have a recipe for Monkey Bread that is similar but it uses pre-made commercial biscuit dough this looks better!

YUM! I wish I had had this yesterday when I was awake at 5.30am! Of course the girls slept until 7am this morning, long may it last!

Great use of your extra time! It reminds me of monkey bread-very easy to pull apart!

I made this on Saturday, the first time I had used yeast for 6 years... and the yeast still worked even though so many years over its due date. The pullapart was great! It was pulled apart immediately by four teens and preteens as they watched the AFL Finals. Their grunts were very positive. Hubby and littlies liked it too.
