I will tell you when you're older.... #1

I love the way Laura's mind works.

This morning I was having a shower, and not unusually she found a reason to be in the bathroom too.

'Mum, you know how Daddy's Grandad is in the rose garden?' (his ashes are scattered quite famously in a rose garden in hubby's home town)

'Yes....'

'He got burned up and gets to be in the soil now and is part of the beautiful roses, that's pretty cool'.

'Yes it is..'

'When I die, I don't want to do that though.  I want to go to heaven'

'Um, you can do that too, it's just your body that gets burned up'

'what, it's just your head that goes to heaven?'.

My goodness - so many of these chats ahead. I just hope I do a great job on all the answers...

A serious subject I know - sorry to Grandad's memory - but this post did give me a little giggle - I love how kids minds work! x

I must confess that this also made me giggle!

Sometimes it's just too complicated to find the right answers though!

My Hannah had a very similar idea. When her great grandfather died we explained that he didn't need his body anymore because he had gone to heaven. She thought that his head arms and legs were all you need in heaven and drew a few pictures of heaven which were hillarious.
We then sorted that misunderstanding out, explaining that our soul goes on but our body is old and worn out. Her reply "so do you just chuck his body in the otto bin then?" hmmmm

Ha ha ha! Children are so funny, with their straightforward innocence.

I don't have any kids, but I so adore children. *sigh* I don't have any, partly because I seriously doubt that I can be a good mom. I am like a kid myself. Bringing up kids is the greatest responsibility in the world. I really admire your and all the mothers' courage.

Now you are doing what my mother always said to do when the kids say those outrageous things. Write it down! Well done!
