Who wants to win an iPad? (And a way social media addicts and bloggers can make a bit of money!)

Now, what I'm about to write is about bloggers and online influencers but I want to make it clear that this competition is open to EVERYONE -  it's not every day you get the opportunity to win something cool like this is it?  I am not being paid to write this post, but the product is sponsoring the prize and I think bloggers in particular are going to be quite interested in this and frankly I'm a bit excited to bring it to them...!

I've been working with a lovely group of people at Rocketman for a little while on a few things.  One of these things is their new product 'Rocketfuel'.  As a blogger I am not motivated by monetary success, to me it's a bonus but to many bloggers out there - especially Mums it's a valuable way they can contribute the family budget whilst being at home to parent their children.

Other bloggers earn income to subsidise their passion - which is what they share with (and entertain and inform) readers - so whether or not it's kitchen equipment or extra food to cook with if you're a food blogger or gadgets if you are a tech-blogger or travel experiences as a travel blogger - blogging can be an expensive 'hobby' at times and so a little bit of income here and there can make the world of difference.

Traditionally, bloggers have earned their income by endorsing products/ambassadorships, advertising or sponsored posts.  Rocketfuel is a new way to look at earning income - the blogger or social media influencer has a lot of choice about how they do it, where they do it and how often they do it.

So, what is RocketFuel?
RocketFuel rewards online influencers that are happy to leverage their social media presence and associate with brands they love.

How it works is very simple:

  • A brand has irresistible content they want to share with their online target audience. This could be a fun video, games, photos, artworks, stories, competitions, blog posts, music tracks, podcasts or even just a really cool site.
  • The branded content is distributed to relevant RocketFuel Influencers who are invited to share a unique link to the content on their Facebook Page, Twitter and/or Blog. Such posts are tagged as #RocketFuelled
  • RocketFuel Influencers are rewarded when links are posted on these channels and clicked.

The best part is that you can choose which campaigns you would like to participate in and which of your social media channels you would like to use. You have full creative control and you can earn revenue, just for sharing branded content on your channels.

How does a blogger become a RocketFuel Influencer?

All you need to do to register is submit an application at:
www.rocketmanmedia.com.au/RocketFuel.

  • Rocketman will assess your application and if their minimum criterion is met, you will be invited to register and become a RocketFuel Influencer.
  • Once you’re registered, you can start to participate in RocketFuel Campaigns!

How does a RocketFuel Campaign work?

The process is as follows:

  • Rocketman send you an Influencer Brief with all the info you need to decide whether you want to participate
  • You have 2 days to accept or decline and decide which social media platforms you opt to use
  • Once the client gives us the green light, Rocketman will send you a campaign confirmation and a unique link for each platform that you use to participate so you can post away!

All that is asked is that your post:

  • Is a fair opinion of the content (or catchy tweet/quick run-down-conversational note in facebook)
  • Includes the campaign link
  • Is tagged #rocketfuelled.
  • Has a minimum of 10 words; we think you’ll get a greater click through rate if the post is sociable and conversational

And that’s it.  NO approval process! No SEO guidelines!
Each campaign runs for 30 days for which you get paid for posting each unique link AND every unique click on the link that you have posted

So to win a 16GB iPad2 in black:
(omg omg omg!) enter by midnight 31st August (Australian postal addresses only)

For one entry
Leave a comment telling me: What your daily Rocket Fuel is - coffee? Tea? Favourite magazine?  Your kids?  What inspires you or turns you on?
For three entries
Enter as above plus share the competition link on your Twitter & Facebook accounts and link this post. (ensure you '@' the Frills in the Hills facebook page or Twitter handle 'frillyhills' so we can track it!)
For five entries
Leave a comment, share the competition link on Twitter & Facebook and go to the RocketFuel website and submit your RocketFuel Influencer application

COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.... that is definitely my Rocket fuel. My other one at the moment is Lady Gaga - if I am in a funk and can't get motivated, I just pop on some Gaga and I am dancing through the day pretty quickly after that!

No-one can interact with me in the morning until I've had my rocketfuel - a vegemite bagel and coffee. My kids know better than to interrupt the ritual, and The Councillor has been known to make a mercy dash to the deli before I wake up if he's discovered we have no bagel/coffee supplies. x

My rocketfuel is my morning yoghurt. Not just any yoghurt either, it has to be Qld yoghurt company gourmet yoghurt. Just luvvvvvvvvvv the macadamia and lemon myrtle.
As for what/who inspires me, thats easy. People who foster children, especially those with special needs. I have so much admiration for them and for what they do from choice.

Coffee. Most definitely coffee.
I'm lucky enough to live on the same block as the cafe that won Best Coffee in the SMH Cafe Guide. It really is the best coffee ever. And the people are wonderful and I love to have a chat with them.
Just about every day involves a walk around to get my coffee. I always feel so bereft on the one day a week that they are closed.

I end my morning shower with a blast of cold water - WOW - that wakes me up! Next is a good cup of coffee. During the day I can't function without my emails and internet (mostly to research food & cooking - I LOVE foodie websites), and during these research sessions - several cups of tea - preferably decaf Green tea. Definitely my Rocket Fuel comprises a number of factors.

Hello! Here is the link to my blog in response to your question about what inspires you or turns you on- provides you with your rocketfuel for life. I would love the 3 votes but my blog is only 2 months old so don't meet the rocketfuel terms and conditions....

(cut and pasted below)

Blog: Inspiration- a competition entry

I can’t remember when I started my mental and physical collection of things that inspire me. Perhaps it began when I started reading stories of adventurers climbing Everest and ill-fated Antarctic expeditions. Then of course, there are the amazing stories of human willpower, and the ability of your mind to overcome astronomical adversity.

At the moment, I am inspired by people who share their stories of dealing with everyday life. The ones where they admit, that they are, or have struggled, with situations and concepts that society assumes that we should just deal with. It is through the simple act of sharing that we transfer infectious courage, and gain insights into our own lives.

Sometimes, even insights into the life of the rich and famous can provide lessons to inspire when you least expect it. I am inspired when people stand sure, and allow themselves to be counted on what they value in life.

At some point I started collecting inspirational thoughts. I was given a journal in one of my first consulting jobs. I think it was given to me because on the particular SAP project I was known because of my daily inspirational emails that I sent to interested team members. 13 years later, I am still adding to that collection.

When I lived in rural NSW I held motivational breakfast events. We were 600km from the nearest capital city, and it frustrated me how little support and motivation there was for locals to overcome the hardship of rural life, and in particular operating businesses in small drought stricken communities. Without any sponsorship, I brought in people from all walks of life to inspire the locals. We heard stories that ranged from upcoming fashion designers; coffee legends; volunteers on youth projects in South America; to diesel mechanics who worked in Antartica. It was as if each event was a personal challenge to myself and indeed became a source of personal growth to me.

Most recently I have become aware of how inspired I am by nature. The raw beauty of all that surrounds us. I try to capture it, with my camera, wherever I am. It matters not to me if it is an exhibition worthy photo. We all see things through our own eyes, for me it is in the personal recognition that I am now aware of such beauty, where once I would have kept walking.

People are also part of nature, and I have been blessed with two beautiful children. They have never ending curiosity and zest for learning; they love to have fun and live life to its fullest. Importantly, they are able to forgive me, and my less than perfect nature, at the drop of the hat. They are my greatest teachers.

For me the lesson is that inspiration comes in all guises. It is best to simply keep your eyes open, be present in the moment, and be aware that at any point in time, something may grab your attention, and may be the source of your inspiration for the moment, the day, or your lifetime.

Sadly I would have to say my rocketfuel is coke zero. I try so hard to give up but it is a constant battle.
My motivation, simply put it is my kids. they are awesome and not only are they my little friends they are best friends to each other (Big boy would argue that point though :P). Big boy is my aspy boy and he inspires me with his ability to learn and to adapt to changes beyond his control. I think I can honestly say that I must be doing something right and that makes me happy

My rocket fuel is people because without them I feel flat and life just seems dull.

The thing that inspires me is the good people. Taking the time to go outside yourself and care about others is a big, it makes me happy and make me want to be a better person too.

Whilst I love caffeine in most forms I could give it away tomorrow to feed my most powerful addiction - which is the ideas, inspiration, humour, knowledge and all that jazz that I get from the internet everyday.
As an avid blogger, twit and Facebooker (ok I haven't gotten to Google+ yet) and a life long lover of computer tech I waste way too much time - I mean thoroughly enjoy every moment I spend interacting on the net. All I need now is a fabulous device I can use in bed (ok that sounds wrong) so I can feed my addiction 24/7 Fingers crossed

It may sound strange, but my rocket fuel is 'fear of failure'. The thought of failing keeps me going.

On another note, thank you so much for this post. I've copped a lot of criticism for 'advertising' on my blog so early in its life. The fact is though that it costs me money. As I'm at home with my daughter, I don't have any other form of income to cover those costs. Thank you for validating that for us.

My rocketfuel is most definitely (like many here) coffee. I am a self confessed coffee snob so instant nastiness does not cut it! Hubby brews me a cup of fairtrade yumminess if he has time before uni/work otherwise a trip to my local cafe is number one on the list after giving my kids breakfast.

Awesome giveaway and interesting proposition. I have not looked into advertising as yet as I am worried about losing control of my content - this approach sounds as it it could be a safe way to put the toes in the water of monetisation...will investigate further...
