Butterfly Lollipops and WIN new design Tikiboo Apron set and Lollipop making kit!

Hello!  Today is your lucky day!  I posted a pic of these cute lollipops over at Kidspot on the weekend and there was much excitement and wanting to know how to make them... now I can tell you!

You all know by now I love to try new things.  I'm not terribly experienced in candy making, not hard candy anyways but when I saw these hard candy moulds over at Inspired by Chocolate I knew I would give it a try

How to make Butterfly Lollipops!
Makes approx 12

Ingredients/Apparatus:
1 packet hard candy mix - this is a mix of sugar and dehydrated corn syrup - a no-fuss-top-results solution! (purchased from www.inspiredbychocolate.com.au $3.40)
Butterfly hard candy mould (do not use chocolate moulds as they may melt, candy is much hotter) $4.25
1/3 cup water
Flavour if you wish
Colouring as you wish
Candy thermometer $6.95 from Alfresco Emporium

Method:
Lightly spray your mould/s with canola oil and place lollipop sticks in place.

Ensure your colour, spare lollipop stick for each colour and flavouring are on hand in easy reach.

In a saucepan empty contents of sugar candy mix and water, stir to combine and heat on a medium high heat with your sugar thermometer attached.  Heat until temperature meets 'hard crack' stage - 300 degrees F (150 degrees c)

Add flavouring at this stage if you wish.  (If you'd like to colour all candy a uniform colour, add colour also - I have not done this in this case)

Pour into mould without delay, leave remaining mix in saucepan off the heat and reheat as necessary.
Whilst setting, with your spare lollipop sticks, dip into colouring and then swirl into the candy (I added a few drops into the mould beforehands).  Mix more than one colour as you wish.   I have used both Queen and Wilton colouring - both with same performance/result.

Allow to full dry/harden (about 15-20 minutes), wrap in cellophane bag and tie off with twist ties and store in airtight container.

And guess what?  The lovely Catherine and Brian from Inspired by Chocolate are you a chance to win a kit valued at $22.95 to make your own - this will include:

- One Hard Candy Mould tray of your choice
- One packet  Pre-mix Candy Sugar - this includes dehydrated corn syrup, it's a no-fail mix!
- One packet of lollipop sticks
- One package Loran flavouring
- One Queen food colouring
- One packet cellophane covers
- One packet of silver twist ties!

But that's not it!  The wonderful Kathryn at All You Need is also throwing in a kiddy apron and oven mit set - these are brand new range, only a few days old - so your little kitchen helper will also be a mini fashionista!

They are cute and well priced to boot at $25.00 a set - a few unisex styles too for those who have little budding Matt Morans' in their house!

OK, so what do you need to do to win?

Oh, I need to make those very much indeed - if only for home decoration - they're divine! And that amazing apron has an almost identical pattern to the contact we had in my pantry and kitchen cupboards growing up - what a retro flashback. Now I'll have to get into the kitchen again...

Wow those lollipops look fantastic... very beatiful indeed. BUT that apron is SUPER cute. Adorable. Geez, Catherine and Kathryn are both very talented - I wonder if it is in the name?

How gorgeous! You did an amazing job and candy making with all of that hot sugar is always something I approach with some caution. I bet the girls loved it, especially the resident fairy Olivia :D

I love your lollipops, they look gorgeous! If I could get anything off inspired by chocolate it would have to be to add to my cookie cutter collection. After easter I can't face any more chocolate so its that or some candy moulds. I am a little nervous of making hard candy though, I keep caramelising my jams so clearly am not that good working with hot temps!

I need to get all the goods to make lollipops from inspired by chocolate. I love trying anything new in the kitchen and especially love trying anything that will delight and impress the child in us all! If I don't win I will still be buying the lollipop ingredients, I have to make them! I'm also a kidspot user - Becsteph - thanks for posting this link!

Liss, after you left me a comment I scrolled down my Blogroll to see what your latest update was, & I couldn't find you on the list. (Maybe that's why I got un-followed?!!!! Hehe)
Not that it matters too much, you are in my reader so I get your updates, but I tried to add you to my Blogroll & it won't allow it.
What am I doing wrong? It says something about updates for the URL can't be found. Just thought you'd like to know in case it's happening on others' too.

Oh & totally adorable apron set & lollies, IBC's sugar cupcake toppers are fantastic!

I have only just discovered the wonderful , all consuming world of blogging and have marked your blog as a favourite , so I can read your old posts. The lollipops are fantastic as i normally melt normal boiled lollies in the oven to make my lollipops , tasty but not very attractive. The inspired by Chocolate web site is one I wish I knew about along time ago.
Thank You

Wonderful Competition Prize :)
I've just been browsing All You Need and my favourite item has to be the "TikiBags Drawstring Kindy Bag". These would not only be great for a pre school bag but also for storing little Miss 4's things when we are out for the day or having a sleepover. The hardest thing is deciding which fabric to pick :))
