Yes, that's what I got this morning at 8.30am when our real estate turned up this morning to do a 'routine inspection'. It went something like this:
'Hi there X from X real estate, are you ready?'
'Um ready for what?'
'Your inspection, didn't you get my letter?'
Then I did a mental checklist of house:
Dressed - check
Kids dressed - check
Kitchen cleaned - check
Beds made - whoops
Carpets vacuumed - whoops
bathrooms cleaned - whoops
Oven clean? - whooops
Yards done - nope - when have we had any opportunity with all this rain?
She assures me she doesn't care about how tidy the house is but she just wants to check the condition of the house. 'mmm not getting rid of her' I think. So I let her in. She sees our girls and chirps - oh wow, twins!
I groan internally.
she continues "Oh I have twins plus one 22 months older" my mood lifts - this woman has some idea of what my life is like. She starts making comments about how clean the house is, how lovely we keep it, then compliments us on the garden... the vege garden is a huge hit.
She calls back later to confirm some repairs that need to be done and again compliments me on such an organised house given the situation.
I was embarassed, annoyed but relieved at least she was positive and I didn't have to kill myself getting the house ready for inspection.
Oh well, it wasn't a boring morning I suppose.

yikes, just as well she didnt come to my house today! well done!
We had an inspection on Monday but went with the CBF attitude. She did ask if we knew she was coming, heck we have kids they like to play, I'm not going to run around the house putting all their toys away fro a five minute house inspection. she only complained about the lawns in the end, i told her to nag the husband, as I'd given up. :)
Glad you lived through it!
How great you got through it!!! I hated inspections with a passion, always nervous for some reason.
I'm glad she wasn't a nasty pastie! They seem to forget so often that they just need to check you're not DESTROYING the house, and not there to judge the level of general cleanliness!
I've never ever cleaned an oven for an inspection. Or cleaned bathroom. I refuse to change my weekly routine, so it would always be the morning sweep and vac before work and that's IT!
