They say that Lego and construction type play is good to develop the same skills that kids will use for reading so not only is it fun, but it's school preparation that I don't even have to put that much effort into, in fact I don't need to put any effort into!
Sometimes I can't help myself though and my OCD will come out when I want to make something that is not only sound, but colour co-ordinated or patterned. I seem to have passed this on a little to Olivia but I'm working very hard with her to 'let it go' as much as I want to agree with her. This only makes me realise we always need more Duplo. Good marketing strategy Lego!
The latest Duplo offerings we've been playing with is the Caravan and the Pet Shop.
These hold pride of place in our loungeroom and having made it to the integrated Duplo box - over a month later. And for almost five year olds, this is pretty good! On the side is the legend of how many pieces of what goes in each box and they like sorting it out between the two boxes. mmm maybe I have no control over the OCD aspect?
Now how is this for Lego overload - playing Lego and watching Lego on TV?
I've also just joined Lego club for $19.95 a year and we get exclusive Lego offers, quarterly magazine and email newsletter. I think that's pretty cool, and might make a great Christmas present for a Lego enthusiast you know!
There are times I wish we lived in Melbourne or Brisbane - because.... they have the Lego education centres - I'd love to go and I think this might be something we do as a family !
How easy would a Lego/Duplo birthday cake be? Mmm I might have to work on convincing Laura and Olivia they want a Lego themed birthday... right?

Basically Lego is the smallest type, duplo is double the size (better for smaller hands and mouths) and quattro is double that again!
Now, today in the Christmas stocking Lego is giving away THREE of the Duplo Pet Shops valued at $49.95 each!

Oh I love the caravan & camping Duplo and so did my 4yr sons we saw in T R Us last weeek. The pet shop too.
I would love to win this for my 4yr old boys as it would be something they can share and play together with.
We love Duplo here it is the favourite at the moment.
Ps Do we need to tell you we tweeted ?
My daughter has never been given lego or duplo. I grew up with them, and yet I have deprived her! The Pet Shop would break the drought! Every 5 year old girl would love a Pet Shop!
My 8 months old son is currently playing with our Duplo. He loves it, especially the animals. I just got it out of storage 2 days ago. I had put it away because I thought my girls were to old and had moved on to lego, but guess what, they all play together. It would be nice to add a pet shop to the collection (It fills a baby bath) Some of the duplo was my brothers, he is now 22.
What a great giveaway. Sadly we are currently a Lego free household. I have decided to rectify this dilemma at Christmas so we headed off to the Lego education centre in Moonee Ponds, but the choices!!! Popps and Immy were just too excited to stay focussed on one product. Now they also think we should drop in there whenever we go shopping, it is the new 'treat' for good behaviour while shopping.
My older boy would LOVE this as he has just started getting into Lego. He got some for his birthday in August and I'm wanting to add more at Christmas. We were in the City at Myer the other day and I couldn't believe how much of a range of Lego they had there, there was about 4 aisles - he was in heaven!!
I would love to win this Duplo for my girls (2yo and nearly 4yo) as it is one of the toys that will keep them playing for ages (especially my older daughter).
I have a 10 month old and am really keen to get her collection started. She is my first so we don't have any at all!!
I would love to win this for my daughter who has just turned six as her comment last week was that someone in her class must be really rich and when I asked why, she said because he has six boxes of lego under his bed. Very cute. Thank you so much for the chance to win.

As an Aunty to nine wonderful kids I have given more lego and duplo pressies that I can recall. Now with my own 10 month old I need to call upon the lego/duplo giving karma so he can begin his very own collection because it seem Lego/Duplo doesn't get passed down, as the kids are still having too much fun with it!
My 2 boys are lego and duplo crazy and would love to have some new pieces to add to their forever changing masterpiece city.
I love watching their make believe world come to life and it's the only toy they don't fight and squabble over as they entertain their own ideas. :)
Lego is a long-love of mine - I still have a huge boxful from when I was a child!
I would love to win a set for my littlest boy William - to help him better learn his fine motor control (lacking a bit!) and also so he can have something new that is his and not a hand-me-down.
Duplo has gotten so much better with its range than they used to be!
Great giveaway Liss! I'd would pop this in my 4yr old boys stocking as he is currently playing with my husband's hand me down lego!
So lovely to see Duplo that isn't trucks and trains, which after 3 boys, is the sum total of our duplo collection. Now that I have my own little frill, I am sure she would love to play with something that doesn't go 'brrrooooom', and as we are surrounded by pets here (2 dogs, 2 hermit crabs and about 70 silkworms), I think it would be just perfect for her.
What a great present!
I would give this to my niece for Christmas, she's not a girly girl and I think she would love something like this, plus they have a few dogs so the pet theme is perfect for her.
My wish list is for the lego ice cube trays. Daughter (26) is mad keen lego enthusiast & has indicated she'd 'die for the lego ice cube tray'... out of stock everywhere I look on the net... :-(
Anyone have any clues where I'd source a couple?

My daughter has to play with her brothers boyish Duplo collection of trucks and cars, so she would love a pet themed Duplo set! Building toys are the best there is for creative play - I love it, my kids love it!
My son loves to play with both Lego & Duplo. We dont have any at our house but his Granny had some at her house. But then she packed it all up & moved to Melbourne with her so he hasn't got any to play with now. This would be such a huge surprise for him as a Christmas present.

I would love to win this for my 4 year old daughter. Her big brother has a huge lego collection and this will make her day to have her own set! Not to mention the fun her mummy will have too!
My daughter is really loving building blocks at the moment in her half day care day and she loves building it up and knocking it down with a great squeal! She loves, loves, loves animals and she can go through all the animals and make all the sounds so this would be a perfect gift for her to unwrap on Christmas morning. I could hear her saying woof, woof right now!

Thankyou, thankyou, thanyou Liss!! Four trays now secured for Jess' Christmas stocking xox
We love Lego here! Lego-mad DS had party bags which were Lego themed for his birthday. But poor DD doesn't have many to play with so the Duplo set would be a perfect gift indeed for her!
I have left a comment on your facebook page why I would LOVE to win :) - Kym Teale

wow - i'd love to win this for my grandsons - they are brothers and both aged 3 - but not twins lol - they are at that wonderful age of wanting to create, create and destroy - and Duplo is exactly what their father needs to keep his sanity lol

I would love to win for my daughter, she loves to build and she loves blocks and learning to play with a complete set like this would be great for her developmentally
My little man, 'cos he loves Duplo, but gets frustrated as he never has enough to build his dreams. Word to the wise...imitations are no substitute.
Lego is one of the most timeless toys, we currently have a box from the 80's that I played with when growing up. So would love to add some more to the collection, plus I have seen this set in the shops and it is adorable so that takes care of they why. As for the who it would be for my two cherubs, Emily & Joshua.
