Hubby is the calzone eater in this house. When we eat out at pizza he sometimes likes himself a calzone so I thought I'd make him a simple one last week on our homemade pizza night.
Using our regular dough, I used our leftover pizza sauce, added mozzarella and tasty cheese and spooned it onto one half, added some bacon and folded over the other side and sealed it up by simply twisting up the edges.
You'll need to to prick the top of the dough with a fork to ensure it gets ventilation and doesn't end up soggy.
Bake in a very hot oven (at least 220 degrees c) for about 10-15 minutes. Serve with salad.
These are also nice as little mini calzones too for lunch - a great solution if you have leftover dough!
My pizza sauce:
400g tin diced tomatoes
2 tb tomato paste
1 clove garlic, crushed
finely chopped oregano, basil and continental parsley
