Who wants to win an iPad? (And a way social media addicts and bloggers can make a bit of money!)

Now, what I'm about to write is about bloggers and online influencers but I want to make it clear that this competition is open to EVERYONE -  it's not every day you get the opportunity to win something cool like this is it?  I am not being paid to write this post, but the product is sponsoring the prize and I think bloggers in particular are going to be quite interested in this and frankly I'm a bit excited to bring it to them...!

I've been working with a lovely group of people at Rocketman for a little while on a few things.  One of these things is their new product 'Rocketfuel'.  As a blogger I am not motivated by monetary success, to me it's a bonus but to many bloggers out there - especially Mums it's a valuable way they can contribute the family budget whilst being at home to parent their children.

Other bloggers earn income to subsidise their passion - which is what they share with (and entertain and inform) readers - so whether or not it's kitchen equipment or extra food to cook with if you're a food blogger or gadgets if you are a tech-blogger or travel experiences as a travel blogger - blogging can be an expensive 'hobby' at times and so a little bit of income here and there can make the world of difference.

Traditionally, bloggers have earned their income by endorsing products/ambassadorships, advertising or sponsored posts.  Rocketfuel is a new way to look at earning income - the blogger or social media influencer has a lot of choice about how they do it, where they do it and how often they do it.

So, what is RocketFuel?
RocketFuel rewards online influencers that are happy to leverage their social media presence and associate with brands they love.

How it works is very simple:

  • A brand has irresistible content they want to share with their online target audience. This could be a fun video, games, photos, artworks, stories, competitions, blog posts, music tracks, podcasts or even just a really cool site.
  • The branded content is distributed to relevant RocketFuel Influencers who are invited to share a unique link to the content on their Facebook Page, Twitter and/or Blog. Such posts are tagged as #RocketFuelled
  • RocketFuel Influencers are rewarded when links are posted on these channels and clicked.

The best part is that you can choose which campaigns you would like to participate in and which of your social media channels you would like to use. You have full creative control and you can earn revenue, just for sharing branded content on your channels.

How does a blogger become a RocketFuel Influencer?

All you need to do to register is submit an application at:
www.rocketmanmedia.com.au/RocketFuel.

  • Rocketman will assess your application and if their minimum criterion is met, you will be invited to register and become a RocketFuel Influencer.
  • Once you’re registered, you can start to participate in RocketFuel Campaigns!

How does a RocketFuel Campaign work?

The process is as follows:

  • Rocketman send you an Influencer Brief with all the info you need to decide whether you want to participate
  • You have 2 days to accept or decline and decide which social media platforms you opt to use
  • Once the client gives us the green light, Rocketman will send you a campaign confirmation and a unique link for each platform that you use to participate so you can post away!

All that is asked is that your post:

  • Is a fair opinion of the content (or catchy tweet/quick run-down-conversational note in facebook)
  • Includes the campaign link
  • Is tagged #rocketfuelled.
  • Has a minimum of 10 words; we think you’ll get a greater click through rate if the post is sociable and conversational

And that’s it.  NO approval process! No SEO guidelines!
Each campaign runs for 30 days for which you get paid for posting each unique link AND every unique click on the link that you have posted

So to win a 16GB iPad2 in black:
(omg omg omg!) enter by midnight 31st August (Australian postal addresses only)

For one entry
Leave a comment telling me: What your daily Rocket Fuel is - coffee? Tea? Favourite magazine?  Your kids?  What inspires you or turns you on?
For three entries
Enter as above plus share the competition link on your Twitter & Facebook accounts and link this post. (ensure you '@' the Frills in the Hills facebook page or Twitter handle 'frillyhills' so we can track it!)
For five entries
Leave a comment, share the competition link on Twitter & Facebook and go to the RocketFuel website and submit your RocketFuel Influencer application

July giveaway is inspired by Italy!

My Mum always swore she was actually swapped at birth with an Italian family – she was darker in complexion and hair colour than her siblings and parents and when she discovered Italian food from an Italian next door neighbour as a pre-teen she cemented this feeling of being a ‘lapsed Italian’ when she experienced the food.  She learned some Italian recipes from that neighbour and then for some years in my young life worked in an Italian restaurant..

Years later I started to learn Italian at school and continued this for many years culminating in a long-awaited trip to Italy when I was twenty-one.  The food in Rome was a total anti-climax but Florence and Venice made up for it.

Now having read (and owning) Tobie’s book ‘Cook like an Italian’ it makes me want to go back and discover food in a whole new way.  I want to learn how to make my own salami. My Mum is her own brand of 'Nonna' and still makes us great Italian recipes, which I still call on from time to time.

The making and eating of Italian food is a spiritual one for me and I know Italian food is a favourite of many – so this month I’m celebrating the love affair with Italian Food with this fabulous giveaway!

One winner will be sent:

A Masterchef stainless steel pasta machine
You can make your own lasagne sheets, ravioli, fettucine – the list goes on!

Tell me how you spoil yourself and win $250 to spend at Myer plus $250 worth of Lindt!

Spoiling yourself is so relative isn't it?

I remember spoiling myself would be going on a holiday or buying myself a designer label... going to a three-hatted restaurant.  These days spoiling myself may mean a hair cut, new underwear or a few hours to myself to read in peace.

Regardless of whether you're a mother or not, on a budget or not everyone needs spoiling every now and then - giving yourself permission to be spoiled is a struggle for me at times, but we all deserve it - I think a little bit of spoiling can put things in perspective and make the daily grind 'do-able' again.

So my friends I think you all need a bit of spoiling, and so do Lindt - they've given me a package of a $250 basket of chocolate goodness plus a $250 Myer voucher for you to well and truly spoil yourself.  And friends I mean YOU.  Not new pyjamas for your little one, not a birthday present for your auntie... this needs to be all about YOU.

So to enter you need to:
  • Leave me a comment here telling me how you will spoil yourself with this prize
  • An extra entry if you post a separate comment telling me how you like to spoil yourself for  under $10
  • Enter only once in the above two methods
  • There will other ways to enter too - find out on 16th May!
  • Entries close 31st May 2011
  • Entry open to those with an Australian postal address

Now, if that's not enough, Lindt are also giving away 5 x  1,000 photo sessions with Lindt Lindor for Mother's day. Join Lindt on Facebook  - to submit your entry before 8th May!

Good luck and share this with people you think need some spoiling! xxx

Winners Pilot Pens Giveaway!

Hello!

Well today marks a week my babies have been at school.  Already we have homework and lost lunchboxes and school jumpers (from my Year 1 child not my kindys!).   A week on I'm feeling a little bit flat.  I've been super-busy so there hasn't really been any of that promised 'me' time - but I expect that will come soon.

My girls are loving being school girls.  The chatter on the way home from school is deafening - everyone excitedly telling me what they did today, what their teacher said, who they played with and of course the odd 'micro-playground-drama'  I'm sure all school mums know about those!

They are tired at the end of the day!  This is Laura after her first day!
Asleep on the couch, after a quick swim and before dinner - let's not forget our name badge!

So onto the competition!  I've got to owe you ALL a big thank you for your tips and spreading the word!  I personally got a few I'm putting into practice and I'm sure everyone had something to offer someone else!

Thanks also to Pilot - who are giving away such cool stuff to Frills in the Hills readers!

Today the winners are:
Danielle
di-a-tribe
and
Caz (the truth about Mummy)

Can each of your please email me your street address we can get this couriered to and a contact phone number - and we can get them along to you ASAP!

(Psst those who are waiting on your 2nd birthday prizes, stalk the postie, they went in the post yesterday!)

Stationery! My tips and something to win!

Now you may think the only stationery you're going to need this year is for the kids.  Yes, well most schools do distribute a stationery list and then if you have older kids they'll be begging you for the latest, coolest, 'everyone's got' bits of stationery.

I found myself buying a lot more stationery last year.   Permanent markers to label, whiteboard markers to practice writing with Eloise... then pens, where do all the pens go?  And envelopes.  Oh my the envelopes - permissions slips this, fundraising that.  Lots of envelopes. Lastly I bought clear plastic A4 envelopes because they are brilliant to put all the notes that come home from school in.  I got Eloise in a routine of emptying her bag each day and all the notes went in there. I never lost notes thank goodness. The other thing I'd recommend is a highlighter.  Highlight dates things are due back, money required etc on notes... helps so much.

We haven't even embarked on covering books yet!

So I'm organised this year - not only have I bought all the kids' stationery, labels etc but I've bought pens, envelopes, markers and my trusty plastic envelopes (they only cost $1 or so from the supermarket).

And Pilot are giving away a back to school kit for three lucky Frills in the Hills readers!

Each kit valued at $50  and includes:

  • 4 x of the new Pilot B2P (Bottle to Pen) pens - these are made from recycled plastic drinking bottles!
  • 1 x Pilot BegreeN clean eraser
  • 2 x Pilot BegreeN Rexgrip ballpoint - I love the grippy ones
  • 2 x Pilot BegreeN G-Knock retractable pen with the grippy bit!
  • 1 x Pilot BegreeN Spotlifter Dual in Pink/Yellow - double ended highlighter
  • 1 x Pilot BegreeN White line correction tape - messy liquid paper is a thing of the past!
  • 3 x Pilot Frixion erasable pens (btw you can win an iPad with Frixion over at the Pilot Facebook page at the moment!)
(the items from the BegreeN range are made with at least 70% recycled materials too!)

Now to enter:
I want to hear YOUR tips.   How  you stay organised for school - lunches, notes, homework, uniforms, getting out the door without having a nervous breakdown (I need those ones)

Leave a comment here with your entry - 1 entry per person please!
Extra entry if you use that fabulous new little Facebook Share button up the top of the post!
Entries close midnight 4th February and open to those with Australian postal addresses.

Happy Birthday Frills in the Hills #7 Win 1 of 3 Lego Creationary boardgames!

Now we all know that Lego is a stalwart in childhood play and learning.  I even love sitting there with the kids and lego for a bit of creative play.  These days though I am much more hung up on colours, I like to have all my bricks the same colour for the walls, make elaborate floor plans... basically I'm a wanna-be architect.

The kids will scold me for hogging all the pieces or heaven forbid, taking away all the 'good pieces'. So I don't play too much these days.  Maybe I can do that whilst they are school this year... ahem.

So the Lego Creationary game is how I now get my Lego fix.  It's a great little game and it took a little practice with our five year old frills but they are getting GREAT at it.  Basically everyone picks up a card and you pick up pieces as you move around the board and build something on your card in secret.  You need to disguise for as long as possible what you are building - and the first person to guess - gets points and so on to move around the board.   Laura is fantastic at guessing!
Garbage truck anyone?

Olivia won because she built hers first and how easy is a lamp? Seriously!

My future engineer!

Pretty tulip

There are 4 modes of play so you can play it different ways depending on the ages - I won't encourage you to make it a drinking game.. but if you should find yourself with some friends and the game and drinks .... so be it.

So who would like to win some for their family?  No alcohol included people! Seriously though a fabulous school holiday distraction for everyone!

Lego are generously allowing me to give away 3 Lego Creationary Games valued at $49.95 each!

Enter by:
  • Leaving a comment telling me the most fun thing you've done this school holidays
  • Extra entry by sharing this giveaway on Facebook (ensure you tag Frills in the Hills Facebook so I can count it!)
  • And another entry if you mention it on twitter. (I in it to win it  at Frills in the Hills (@frillyhills) #lego creationary game! http://bit.ly/eQ6LeQ )
  • You may only enter once by each method.
  • Entries open to Australian postal addresses only.
  • Entries close midnight 19th January 2011.

Happy Birthday Frills in the Hills #6 Planet Cake Book or safe and non-crazy way to colour with Queen! International entries welcome!

I'm not much of a cake decorator but it is something I'd like to improve upon.  Making perfect cupcakes lovely and round on top like those on the cover of Planet Cake - they are so cute!  I think it takes a lot of patience, skill and a tolerance for sugar.  And a lot of colouring.

Today I have something for those aspiring cake decorators out there - I'm giving away 1 Planet Cake cake decorating book - it has all the tricks and tips to make lovely cakes and cupcakes that will have your friends asking where you bought them.  Right?   Maybe a good idea is to say 'a new little place I found' or you could find yourself being 'volunteered' for your best-friends-next-door-neighbours-cousin's-workmate's divorce cake.  Whoops.

In addition to the Planet cake book I'm also sending to four lovely readers a packet of the Queen Naturals range - natural allergen free colour - what a fabulous idea right?  So you don't need to be that mum who serves carob at the birthday party!  You can buy them in a box of four in the supermarket in vivid pink, yellow, purple and green.  You can also buy the pink and yellow in individual bottles.

So this giveaway you qualify by:
  • Leaving a comment and telling me what you love to bake
  • Extra entry for tweeting the giveaway 'I'd love to win the Planet Cake book I saw at Frills in the Hills ( @frillyhills ) today http://bit.ly/gFxR4C '
  • Share this on your facebook for another entry - be sure to tag Frills in the Hills on Facebook (@Frills in the Hills )
  • This giveaway is available WORLDWIDE
  • Entries close 18th January - midnight Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time

Happy Birthday Frills in the Hills #5 Win a little billies routine chart pack!

I've been a long time fan of Little Billies - they are always coming up with something new to make life just that little bit easier for parents and help them (and kids) live in harmony.  In particular I'm referring to the morning and bed-time charts - I have some of these magnets and they are a god-send if you have little ones to get out the door in the morning.

What these charts help you do is get out of the house without much if any screaming or frustrated punches in the sky.  Believe me, I've lived it last year.  I got sick of hearing the sound of my own voice and repeating the same thing over and over and over.  Lesson learned!

The chart and the magnets keep the children focussed and in a fun way - as they stick their magnet on the chart as done - they feel an achievement and you can give praise - everyone is happy! (especially Mummy!) I seriously suggest these if you have one or more chldren starting school this year - even the little ones who aren't at school all need to pull it together to get everyone out the door!

Little Billies today is offering one lucky reader's family one of these reward charts valued at $29.50.

Now, if you want one straight away there's some gorgeous sets over at Little Billies - I love this Babuska one!

There are rockets, creepy crawlies, cars and everything - BOYS DON'T MISS OUT! Check out all the routine charts here!

So to win one of the day/night sets (picture at top) what you need to do?
  • Leave a comment and tell me the task you find hard to get done before you go out (like shoes on, teeth brushed, bag packed)
  • Entrants must have an Australian postal address
  • One entry only per person
  • Entries close midnight 17th January 2011
